Custom Countries

[edit]

Am I allowed to create my own custom wikipedia pages in the sandbox? for custom countries and such, not offensive or promotive in any way. RazorPantherz (talk) 00:07, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@RazorPantherz: No, Wikipedia is not a free web host. Graham87 (talk) 01:24, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, cheers. RazorPantherz (talk) 16:23, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Try Miraheze, it uses the same software as Wikipedia Thx56 (talk) 18:05, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions to clarify how to create more than 1 sandbox ...

[edit]

May I suggest, for the sake of clarification, that under Creating more sandboxes in your User namespace you edit item 2 —"Enter the following in the Search box, using your actual username: User:Your username/sandbox2" — with this modification: "Enter the following in your browser's Search field," then continue with what's already written.

The reason I suggest this is based on my own experience. For a good half hour or more, I kept looking all around at my User page for some sort of Search box, as per the directions. When I kept not finding a box, I was about to give up. Finally it occurred to me that maybe the browser Search field was the right place ... except that what was written there was more than just User: Augnablik, like for instance some numbers and a % sign. When it occurred to me to delete all the extraneous stuff and typed /Sandbox2, I finally succeeded. (Which reminds me to add to my suggested modification something to alert editors that if there's anything in the browser's Search field beside User: followed by your Wiki name, then it must be deleted before adding the additional sandbox name.)

Maybe no one else had exactly the same experience, but because of possible confusion, I think at least some other editors might benefit from what I suggested above. Augnablik (talk) 13:44, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

...I think they meant Wikipedia's search box. Worgisbor (congregate) 16:56, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Is there supposed to be no visual editing?

[edit]

I don't know if I just can't see it, but I'm pretty sure there's no way to do visual editing in the sandbox. Why? You can't even switch to visual once you've started editing. I prefer to edit in visual, because I started editing only recently, and I barely do it, so I haven't really tried to learn how to edit in source. Can you only edit source in the sandbox? AtTheTownHouse (talk) 18:04, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

oh (i just saw it) sorry AtTheTownHouse (talk) 18:05, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is a Module sandbox and there could be no difference between Source and Visual edit (if available). Everything here will be written in lua.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 19:16, 25 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sandbox page needs semi-protection

[edit]

I don't know why, but someone added a infobox about the sandbox, i'm am not harassing the user that did this, but this needs to be reverted. ~2025-31416-78 (talk) 09:33, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

When walking about specific edits on specific pages, please always include a wikilink to the page or a link to the diff. —andrybak (talk) 09:38, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Alright, but someone also vandalised the article with Chinese text. ~2025-31416-78 (talk) 15:54, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
The fact that they deleted {{Please leave this line alone (sandbox heading)}} is unfortunate, but editing the sandbox does not constitute vandalism. An automatic bot takes care of adding the header back: Special:Diff/1322496119.
At this point it might be better to leave a message about this issue at User talk:~2025-34043-51. There is a relevant warning Template:Uw-notenglishedit, but its wording doesn't really apply to the sandbox, which is regularly reset by a bot. —andrybak (talk) 16:39, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I messaged about that user, using the notenglishedit template. ~2025-31416-78 (talk) 12:30, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Testcases?

[edit]

For the template sandboxes, are there any testcases pages I can experiment in? User97104 (tcrl) 12:01, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

How to use template sandboxes and test cases is described at WP:TESTCASES. —andrybak (talk) 13:16, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
