The Honda QC3 is an electric scooter manufactured in India by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI). It was unveiled in July 2026 and launched in the Indian market on 22 September 2026.[1] The QC3 uses a fixed 3.0 kWh battery and has a manufacturer-certified range of 145 km (90 mi) under the Indian Driving Cycle (IDC).[2]
The scooter joined the QC1 and Activa e: in Honda's Indian electric two-wheeler range. Contemporary reports described it as Honda's third electric scooter for India and as a family-oriented urban commuter.[3][1][2]
Development and launch
[edit]Honda unveiled the QC3 on 24 July 2026 as part of a ten-model lineup for the Indian market, made up of seven new models and three refreshed models. The lineup included electric, internal-combustion and flex-fuel two-wheelers.[4] Honda described the QC3 as a "Smart Family EV", a commuter-focused scooter for families and daily riders.[4]
The unveiling formed part of Honda's attempt to expand its relatively small share of India's electric two-wheeler market. According to Moneycontrol, citing VAHAN registration data, Honda retailed 4.70 lakh two-wheelers in July 2026, of which 940 were electric. In the same month TVS Motor Company retailed 55,500 electric two-wheelers, Bajaj Auto 45,600, Ather Energy 30,300 and Hero MotoCorp 23,000.[5] The Financial Express reported that Honda was banking on the QC3 to revive its electric-vehicle presence.[6]
Honda launched the QC3 at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.35 lakh (US$1,400) in Delhi. Bookings opened for ₹5,000 (US$52).[7] Initial sales were limited to selected Honda RedWing dealerships in Delhi, Agra, Cuttack, Surat and Kollam, with a wider rollout planned in phases.[8][1]
Battery and charging
[edit]Unlike the Activa e:, which uses two swappable 1.5 kWh batteries, the QC3 has a fixed 3.0 kWh battery.[3] Honda claims that the battery can be charged from zero to 80 per cent in about two hours and 40 minutes, and fully in about four hours.[1]
Honda's press release at the July unveiling gave the QC3's IDC range as 151 km.[4] Some reports of the unveiling gave 145 km,[9] and 145 km was the certified figure given at launch.[3] This is the longest claimed range of Honda's three electric scooters in India, compared with 102 km for the Activa e: and 80 km for the QC1.[3] Honda had not disclosed the motor's power output at launch.[3]
Equipment
[edit]The QC3 has 32 litres of underseat storage. Its equipment includes a five-inch TFT instrument display with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and a Smart Key.[2][3] A USB charging port is fitted at the front.[10]
The scooter has an apron-mounted LED headlamp, a front disc brake and rear drum brake with a combined braking system, and 12-inch alloy wheels.[11] Its suspension consists of a telescopic front fork and dual rear shock absorbers.[10] The design has a wide handlebar and an upright riding position.[10]
Honda offers the scooter in four colour schemes: Matt Photon Gray Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Pearl Shallow Blue and Pearl Siren Blue.[8]
Market positioning
[edit]The QC3 was positioned above the smaller QC1, which has a fixed 1.5 kWh battery and a claimed IDC range of 80 km.[3] Indian automotive publications named the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta and Vida V2 among its principal competitors.[3][1]
