Aircall was founded in 2014 in Paris by Olivier Pailhès, Jonathan Anguelov, Pierre-Baptiste Béchu, and Xavier Durand [2]. The company was created within Hexa (formerly eFounders), a startup studio focused on incubating software-as-a-service companies.

In 2016, Aircall raised an $8 million Series A round led by Balderton Capital with participation from FJ Labs and Newfund [2]. Aircall later raised a $29 million Series B in 2018 and a $65 million Series C in 2020 [1]. In June 2021, Aircall raised a $120 million Series D led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management [3], reaching a valuation above $1 billion, making Aircall the sixteenth French technology unicorn [1].

In December 2023, Scott Chancellor was appointed chief executive officer, succeeding co-founder Olivier Pailhès[1]. Chancellor previously served as chief executive officer of Humu until its acquisition by Perceptyx in 2023 [1]. Earlier in his career, Chancellor spent more than seven years at Amazon Web Services, where he founded and led the AWS Insights organization as General Manager.[4]
