AJDaGuru (born Anthony James Sledge), formerly known as Mr. Live, is an American rapper, singer, and record producer from New Haven, Connecticut.

Early life

Sledge was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began experimenting with beat production during his early teens.

Career

In 2013, Sledge became associated with Chicago rapper GLC. Later that year, the two released a collaborative project titled Ism Churchill. Sledge produced the majority of the project, which featured artists such as Chevy Woods, King Chip, and Raheem DeVaughn. He later began releasing music as a solo artist under the name AJDaGuru. In 2014, Sledge produced GLC's single "Gone."

Sledge released Livestrumentals Vol.1 in 2015 and Livestrumentals Vol.2 in 2016, and organized three hip-hop showcases in 2017 for independent artists. Between 2017 and 2020 he stepped back from releasing his own music to work with major record labels as a music executive and A&R representative.

AllHipHop covered his singles "Seen It All" and "Love Yourself", reporting that "Love Yourself" debuted at number 93 on Spotify's U.S. Daily Top 200 chart, and that Sledge received a plaque for surpassing one million streams on the platform. Sledge told Sheen Magazine that "Love Yourself" was inspired by a desire to help people dealing with mental health issues. The single's music video was shot at a ranch.
