AJDaGuru (born Anthony James Sledge) is an American rapper, singer, and record producer[citation needed] His single Love Yourself debuted at number 93 on Spotify's United States Daily Top 200 chart in 2021.[1]

Early life

[edit]

Anthony James Sledge was born in New Haven, Connecticut and grew up in the Hill district of the city. From a young age, he showed an interest in music, experimenting with beat boxing and creating his own beats. By his early teens, he was exploring music production and developing skills that would later shape his career as a rapper, singer, and producer.[2]

Career

[edit]

AJDaGuru has released multiple singles independently. In 2020, he released the instrumental track Sledge Family Rules, which charted at number 43 on the iTunes Top 200 chart in South Africa.[3]

In 2021, he released Seen It All, accompanied by a music video, which surpassed one million streams on Spotify.[4][5] Later that year, he released Love Yourself, which debuted at number 93 on Spotify's United States Daily Top 200 chart and peaked at number 9 on Billboard's LyricFind Global chart.[1][6] Coverage of Love Yourself was also featured in Sheen Magazine, highlighting the song's theme, visuals, and AJDaGuru's creative process.[7]

In 2024, AJDaGuru launched a weekly release series called Guru Wednesdays, which included a remix of Glorilla's "Yeah Glo". A Def Jam promotions executive encouraged him to continue releasing music weekly.[8]
