Buses for London is a future bus company that will commence operating in London in late-2027. It will be a subsidiary of Transport for London.
History
[edit]In September 2026, Transport for London (TfL) announced it would begin directly operating bus services in its own right, rather than by contractors, through Buses for London. Buses for London will commence operating in late-2027 when it will take over the operation of route 6 from Metroline.[1] A further four routes will commence in 2028.[2][3][4][5]
TfL had previouly operated buses through East Thames Buses that was formed in December 1999 to take over the services operated by the failed Harris Bus. It was to sold in July 2009 to London General.[6]
Depot
[edit]Buses for London will initially operate out of a depot in Park Royal leased from the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. It will be leased until 2033 by which time a new depot will have been established. It will accommodate 100 electric buses.[7]
