The 6th Assembly of Kerala was elected in the 1980 Kerala Legislative Assembly election. The Speaker of the assembly was A. P. Kurian until 1981 after which A. C. Jose succeeded him. The Deputy Speaker was M. J. Zakharia Sait. The leader of the Assembly was E. K. Nayanar from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) until 1981 after which K. Karunakaran succeeded him. The leader of opposition was K. Karunakaran until he became the leader of the house and was succeeded by E. K. Nayanar of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for the remainder of the short lived term.[1]
