Wikipedia:Why is nobody reviewing my stuff?

A common problem for first-time nominators at WP:FAC (and WP:PR), is listing an article and nobody reviews it. Even having somebody tell you that your article sucks is better than everybody just ghosting you. So how can you avoid this happening to you?
First, while there is no official Quid pro quo system like there is at WP:DYK, or review circles and pledges like at WP:GAN, people are more likely to review your article if they see you reviewing other articles. So get to reviewing. Don't wait until you've nominated your article, start reviewing other people's stuff now. This will get you some real-life experience for how things work at FAC. It'll also get you some name recognition which will attract reviews when you nominate your own article.
This is as true at PR as it is at FAC. The more you give, the more you get back. If you are working towards FA, include your review in Template:FAC peer review sidebar.
Second, recognize that people are more likely to review articles about topics they are interested in. So find those people. Scan WP:FA for articles similar to yours. Drop the nominator a note on their talk page, politely asking if they would be willing to look at your work.
Tag your article with the appropriate wikiproject template(s). If you're interested in widgets, WP:Wikiproject Widgets is where other widgetphiles will be. Most wikiprojects have an automated process to get notified about new articles, but you can also be WP:BOLD and drop a request directly on the project's talk page. Many projects have limited activity, so more often than not, this won't go anywhere but it's better than just doing nothing and hoping the review fairy will wave her magic wand at your nomination.
