[edit]Where is the dispute?
[edit]The Sopaipilla article.
Who is involved?
[edit]What is the dispute?
[edit]The basic issue is what to do with content that is correct but difficult to source. The particular subject is the South American versions of the sopaipilla (nobody has any bones to pick regarding the New Mexican one, apart from minor issues of what one might term "ownership"). The existence of Chilean and Argentinean sopaipillas is beyond dispute. However, an edit war is developing over the steps to be taken until satisfactory documentation can be found. I (B-o-t-H) am a participant in that edit war but, consistent with the spirit of mediation, will not attempt to represent a point of view here; I will note, however, that there are literally thousands of web pages out there that talk about the disputed subject, but generally do not do so in ways that I, as a writer, would feel comfortable treating as "source" material. So what to do in the interim? Leave up the inadequately sourced material (with appropriate banner) and hope that somebody finds a source that "works"? Or delete it until a source is found (running the risk that no source will be sought, since there's no subject material there that needs it)? That's the root of the edit war, which is a fairly standard example of the tension between "exclusive" and "inclusive" editors.
What would you like to change about this?
[edit]It would be good to have consensus on the path forward.
How do you think we can help?
[edit]Recommend a path forward.
Mediator notes
[edit]Have all parties agreed to mediation? If they have, i'd be willing to take this one. The WordsmithCommunicate 05:08, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- Not to my knowledge. The dispute had died down for a while, but it's back, so in the absence of an agreement to mediation, what's the next step? -- Bill-on-the-Hill (talk) 00:48, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- So it anyone going to act on this? Things have heated up again. :-( -- Bill-on-the-Hill (talk) 20:41, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
