• Keep. A world chess champion is surely notable? Without wishing to give offence, SyG, by his own account on his User Page is an extreme deletionist and a chess enthusiast. Therefore his NPOV on this article is questionable. Do we discriminate on the basis of age on WP? This young chess player is only 15 years of age but he has achieved at a high level and come to the attention of the media and is therefore notable. Another citation would be desirable. • Every year, "world champion" titles are awarded in under 18, U16, U14, U12, U10, and U8 categories; x2 for girls as well. All of them are local celebrities after they return home victorious and receive brief media attention. Do all of these kids then deserve a Wikipedia page as well? • Keep, per WWGB. Whether being U12 world champion is notable or not, enough coverage exists to pass general notability regardless. The Errol Kiong article demonstrates news coverage prior to the 2009 championship, so BLP1E doesn't apply either. Yunshui 雲‍水 12:40, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
• Keep. On its own, a FIDE master title is usually insufficient for notability, and in the past, age restricted national champions have usually been deleted. However, in this case it is a World championship we are dealing with, and membership in that club is far more exclusive. The achievement has clearly been noted by the mainstream non-chess media as well such as the New Zealand Herald, so the sourcing is clearly adequate. Sjakkalle (Check!) 11:30, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
