Edible after cooking icon?

I would go for a generic "limited edibility" or "edible under conditions" icon, and I would design it as a variation of the edibility icon - e.g. the edibility icon with an added exclamation mark. Then I would name the conditions on a standardised place - i.e.: easy to locate for readers - in the article. That way it doesn't get much more complex for the viewer/reader and we can use it for all those mushrooms that need to be treated in some way or don't go well together with alcohol aso..--Natr (talk) 17:26, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Species Identification

Is it possible to aggregate the information from the templates into a table? In other words, can Wikipedia generate a list all the species and their features? This would be useful for identifying species if their name is not known. emok (talk) 18:13, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

To answer my own question, it looks like this sort of query is within the scope of the Wikidata project but is not possible yet. As the project develops it should be possible to create the sort of table I am looking for. How does it work right now? I see that for a lot of existing articles with this template there are corresponding properties in wikidata (like here). Change link for "not recommended" category

It currently links to here, a section of the mushroom hunting page which no longer exists. The current equivalent section is Mushroom_hunting#Commonly_misidentified/confused_mushrooms so the link should go there. White spores seems to be transparent

'Color' field

Stropharia coronilla was the only remaining page transcluding the Mycomorphbox "color" field. (I know this after recently running a Mycota tool I wrote.)

I removed the field from that page's template, and wrote an (incorrect) edit message that the field is not supported. But now that there are no transclusions for that field... should it even be supported? Is there still a use case for an alternative "background color for headings"? @Reinderien:, I suspect there isn't really a use case for the parameter/field. I'm not sure what you're aiming for with the tool you wrote. There is a report updated on a monthly basis (), that shows which articles with a template use which particular parameters. I wrote the tool on request to supply someone with a local database that supports fast querying on the parameters of this template. I have no suggestions. I only know of inelegant ways to query the parameters. It looks like you have a good solution for fast querying the parameters of this template. If this solution is could be readily adapted to support other infobox-type templates aside from Mycomorphbox I would bet there would be some interest in that. The monthly report can't be used to query on many parameters simultaneously. This is very helpful for mushroom identification. Example:

@Plantdrew Is there a report (somewhat similar to the quite-useful Bambots report) that flags template transclusions that have used field values unsupported by the template? If not, I'll be implementing that feature. I also will be following your advice to split this tool in two: one generic template-download utility, and a separate utility specific to Mycomorphbox that pulls it in via submodule. stipeCharacter clarification

The stipeCharacter field is described as being a place to describe veils. How should we describe a species that has a partial veil which does not leave an annulus? "ring" would indicate that a partial veil is present but could be misleading if this does not typically leave an annulus at maturity. "bare" would make it clear that this species is not typically annulate but could also suggest that it lacks a veil entirely. Dgrootmyers (talk) 18:36, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Italic title suppression is broken

@Gonnym: A bunch of articles using this box have popped up in Category:pages with DISPLAYTITLE conflicts. Attempting to fix Psilocybe liniformans var. americana, I noticed that |italic_title=no does not work. Paradoctor (talk) 12:13, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

Fixed. @Gonnym: changed how |name= is processed. I don't think that was intended. Also, passing |italic_title= to {{infobox}} with a blank value enables italic titling. That is screwy. I suggest adding the morphological group

Good day, dear English-speaking mushroom enthusiasts. I have localized this template in the Russian Wikipedia (together with another contributor WindEwriX) and added a form= parameter that characterizes the morphological group of the fungus. Before describing the details, I think it would be useful to outline the group itself. If you wish, you can implement it in your version as well.
