Adding support to display links without a title
[edit]I've played around in the sandbox to try out support for displaying links that don't have an explicit title. Instead, it just uses the standard, non-piped link. Check out the test cases for a demo. If nobody has a better idea, such as requiring a separate parameter, I'd like to incorporate this into the template. DeFaultRyan 16:35, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Discussion about improving this template with respect to expensive parser functions
[edit]See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football#College football season articles reaching expensive parser call limits; new push for season articles?. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:12, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Courtesy ping to B and Frietjes as both of you have contributed significantly to this template. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:15, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- So has anything been done to make this better? 1949 college football season breaks half way. Gonnym (talk) 07:28, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
Unified with Template:CBSB link
[edit]This template has almost the same behavior as Template:CBSB link, so I created Template:College sports team link to implement both, and made this template be a wrapper around it.
The unified template has improved handling of missing parameters / when articles reach expensive parser call limits (per above). When the expensive limit is hit, this template will now just show a sensible unlinked string, rather than something like [[{{{school}}}]].
See Template talk:CBSB link#"Excessive use" category for a discussion about how to handle the tracking category.
Pinging @B, Frietjes, per above. — hike395 (talk) 21:04, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
