Re-establishing article
[edit]XChat (or X-Chat) was one of the major IRC clients back in the day. At some point it was no longer updated, and a fork called HexChat became popular. However, after Wikipedia's entry on HexChat was initally deleted for non-noteworthiness, information on it was instead incorporated into the XChat article. Eventually, the XChat article was renamed to HexChat, and later, all information on XChat was even expunged from the article. This created the situation that XChat has been erased from the wiki.
I don't believe there's any doubt that XChat is of historical noteworthiness. As editors' consensus appears to be that the specifics of XChat do not belong in the HexChat article, I've opted to restore XChat to its own article. The relevant edit history remains in the HexChat article. ~2025-33959-13 (talk) 13:51, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
