Win-luck or Win-lock?

[edit]

I grew up about 35 miles away (Rainier, Ore.), & always thought that the second syllable was pronounced lock, not schwaed to luck. Yet the pronunciation key says the syllable is schwaed, leaving us with /wɪnlək/. Is this correct? 69.42.17.116 (talk) 06:01, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Winlock Egg

[edit]

@QuicoleJR: I was about to start an article for Winlock Egg, before seeing the section in this article. Any interest in forking out the page? ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:59, 14 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I support the idea, but I don't have the time or resources to be the one to fork it out. You might want to ask OlympiaBuebird, who is the expert on this region of Washington. QuicoleJR (talk) 02:27, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hey @QuicoleJR!
Long time and seems you're still rocking it! Thanks for the expert compliment, but you have seen my grammar usage, no?
I fully agree on spinning off the Winlock Egg to it's own article. It can certainly be expanded and there's plenty of non-local sourcing (but don't pass up using The Chronicle (Centralia, Washington) newspaper as a reference).
I can do the work if Another Believer is busy or as usual (a compliment!), has a great many things in the fire that needs tending. I currently have about 20 links, shaved down from over 300, saved in regards to the egg. A bit more on history, local importance, and restoration/maintenance of the egg over the decades.
To be honest, it could probably be spun off now and worked on little by little over time. What say you, @Another Believer?

I'm happy to fork the article and for further improvements from others. Thanks, both! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
