@Adolphus79 Why do you think so? Everyone knows who an American is - someone of USA nationality - and I feel like the link to Americans might be violating MOS:GEOLINK or related overlink MoS rules. You forgot to quote the first part of my ES, "revert good faith edit... introducing easter egg link", which was pretty clear if you bothered to read the link I provided. We have a link like that in almost every other biography article here on Wikipedia, a link to the nationality (e.g.: French people, Spanish people, Canadians, etc.), but you feel this specific nationality link should go to a surprise page about basketball instead? I never mentioned OVERLINK or GEOLINK, I reverted due to WP:EGG (and WP:NATIONALITY). If you wish to remove the link altogether, that is one thing, but do not link to an unnatural target. - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:10, 17 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Adolphus79 Oh, I get it now. I thought that geolink also applied to links to nationality of countries, but no, it only applies to countries themselves. I learned something new! Anyway, about the easteregg link policy, I don't particularly call it an easteregg because this article IS about a basketball player, and an American one. But I digress. In short, an easter egg is just whenever a reader clicks (or could click) on a link expecting it to go somewhere logical, and it doesn't. If you are linking that he is American, the link should go to American, not to "Basketball in America". It would be like saying "the car is made by Toyota", but instead of linking Toyota, you have it piped to Motorsports in Japan. It is not what the reader would logically expect when clicking on the link. I hope that makes sense. - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:04, 17 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
