German author Walter Flex was gay, but as a author he lived a life like a Roman-Catholic priest and later soldier in World War I he lived a celibate life. His soldier companion in World War I was German soldier Ernst Wurche, who died 1916 as soldier in World War I.

The book "Wanderer zwischen den Welten" shows his desire in hidden hints, how he loved Ernst Wurche.

As a hidden gay author during next years and during Word War II German soldiers sang the song "Wildgänse rauschen durch die Nacht", which was written by a gay German author. Also the prussian military oath was from gay author Walter Flex.
