[edit]The name is most often "Waatch". You can also find "Wa'atch" on other nearby features. I suspect "Wyatch" is another form (seen in the Washington Territorial act that created the short-lived Quillehuyte County). —Mrwojo (talk) 03:29, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Prose and comprehensiveness
[edit]- Ideally, the lead should inform readers that the river is in the United States. Not everyone knows where Washington is. Outside of the infobox, the country isn't mentioned.
- Is there any information available on historical habitation in the region? How long have the Makah inhabited the peninsula?
- Added a source discussing this.-G
- Otherwise, prose is good.
Images
[edit]- Both images have been reviewed and found to be under the proper license.
- Not a GA criterion, but consider using ALT text for the infobox image
References
[edit]- All material is referenced.
- Formatting appears consistent.
- Recommend archiving where possible to ensure continued verifiability in case of WP:LINKROT. This is not a GA criterion, and has no bearing on the outcome of this review.
- Spotcheck (based on this revision):
- 2: I'm not seeing 12.7 square miles
- Hmm, I can't find where I got that. Changed it to a different figure from an older source.-G
- 5: Supported
- 9: Could you provide a quote?
- "Waatch: From the Makah (Nootkan) name /waʔač'/, said to mean 'bundling up cedar to make a torch'. I realized I should state this less definitively to match the source.-G
- 13: Supported
- 2: I'm not seeing 12.7 square miles
Verdict
[edit]- A couple questions, and a request for a quote, but otherwise seems about ready. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 17:40, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

- Excellent. It appears that this meets all of the GA criteria, so I will be promoting. Congratulations. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 10:40, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
