The Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) was not a generic "border protection agency." It was a federal uniformed police force with border‑guarding duties. In this context, Schutz here refers to guarding, not generic "protection." The same translation logic applies to "Grenzschutzgruppe 9" ("Border Guard Group 9").
