Any official confirmation?

[edit]

Courtesy ping: Marty2Hotty are we sure that Arman is fighting Charles? besides “numerous reports”, is there any official confirmation? it seems the signs point to it, but can we be sure? frankie they/them (tc) 22:47, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Peachy1621 i think one of the reports of from a reputable source. it should be announced very soon, i think. Marty2Hotty (talk) 05:10, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
If it "should be announced very soon, i think" then it hasn't been announced. Therefore shouldn't be listed as announced. Jyrka (talk) 10:37, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
i second dis frankie they/them (tc) 21:40, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
yea uh besides us desperately wanting dana to just announce them, it’s not confirmed. WP:CRYSTAL kinda makes us have to remove it, so i’ll go ahead and do that. until dana or the ufc or the matchmaker confirms it, let’s just keep the bouts out. Courtesy ping: Marty2Hotty you should take a look at WP:CRYSTAL. this policy is specifically meant to rule out officially confirmed bouts. mma “reports” are unreliable and can be completely false sometimes. adding these bouts assumes they will occur, which is a violation of WP policy. thus i say we should remove Arman-Charles 2, Volk-Movsar, and Van-Pantoja 2. please also see this archive. a comment on that archive says,
Never add future bouts in a MMA record table even if they are officially announced. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Future bouts officially announced can only be mentioned within the body text.
Courtesy ping: Nswix, Courtesy ping: Jyrka, it is pretty annoying to have to explain an over decade old consensus on this. what do you folks think?

@Peachy1621 we have been doing this for a while and many of the bouts that are reported under announced bouts are reported by media but not official from ufc
those will be confirmed very soon. Marty2Hotty (talk) 00:42, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
just because you have been violating a consensus for “a while” with no mention of it until now does not make it the norm. frankie they/them (tc) 00:50, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Marty2Hotty: see my previous reply to this statement—long term overlooked policy violation doesn’t make it okay, and do you understand that there has already been an established consensus to not add future bouts, per WP:CRYSTAL? this was further reinforced by the fact that the arman-charles 2 bout was reported as being for the BMF belt but now just changed to be a non-title bout. Reports constantly change and are unreliable. i suggest we all stick to the consensus and remove unofficially announced bouts. frankie they/them (tc) 04:06, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
They are about to announce it. We have more than enough sources that the fight will happen. It is not BMF title though. This is how MMA bouts are put on events. WHen reported, we put them on the page. We have three different reports. Usually within a month or one month and two weeks, it is reported. Marty2Hotty (talk) 05:41, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Marty2Hotty: Marty, there was a previous consensus detailing to not add unofficially announced bouts. frankie they/them (tc) 23:13, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Peachy1621 that changes how all mma editing is done period. every time there is a report, from a good source, we add it and have been for decades. this is going to be announced within a week. are you new to mma editing. UFC doesn't announce bouts for full cards until about a month out. look at all the pages for UFC events with "announced bouts". we only put fights that come from credible sources and do not if they come from x, from the events pages of reputable sites and they are usually confirmed shortly after. Marty2Hotty (talk) 00:28, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Marty2Hotty: a consensus has been disregarded for an extended period of time doesn’t necessarily make it okay to disregard frankie they/them (tc) 00:31, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
You can ask all the senior editors that have been doing this. We are careful with reputable sources when adding bouts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_Fight_Night:_Hernandez_vs._Rodrigues for example. the ones on the "Fight Card" are ones from ufc.com/events, but they take weeks to update at times. The ones under Announced Bouts, are updates from reputable sources like lowkickmma, BBC, heavy, mmajunkie, mmamania, bjpenn.com, and more. Senior editors have stated essentiallysports and other "pages that just list the events" are not as reliable, including social media, despite the social media posts being from reputable sources. And we monitor closely which should or shouldn't be put on before putting them. We kind of work together. There are senior editors: AddedUpdatePoster, Gsfelipe94, Nswix, KyleBYerrick, who keep things going here. You can include them in the conversation. Marty2Hotty (talk) 00:46, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
For the record, I think its perfectly fine to use sourced, reliable refs to link announced bouts before the UFC officially announces them. Thats why they're in 'Announced bouts'. Nswix (talk) 03:22, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
