Split

[edit]

This article is getting too long. I propose splitting by decade and making this a dab. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 04:12, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Supported. I wasn't sure if it was big enough for that when I first made it years back, but figured I'd have to do it eventually. I'll take care of it on a couple days if no one objects. Sergecross73 msg me 13:00, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Merci. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 13:15, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

What's the difference between Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales since December 2014? The way the lede is worded it seems to imply they're the same. DA1 (talk) 13:48, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

They were the same...until 2014. That's when the Billboard 200 started factoring in streaming to their figures. This chart represents actual sales. The Billboard 200, through 2013, was also just sales. In 2014, the Billboard 200 changed to album equivalent units rather than sales. Sergecross73 msg me 13:54, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I had to look back and read again, it seems the vague use of "the chart" created confusion about what it was talking about. Pre-2015, what are the differences between the Billboard 200 and TAS charts? On a sidenote, I support the split. DA1 (talk) 00:16, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Completely forgot about this. I can work on this next week if there's still no objections. Sergecross73 msg me 20:07, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Let me know whether I can help. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 21:09, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Split is done. Bluesatellite (talk) 03:39, 4 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for taking care of this, I appreciate it. I'm a little iffy on the "achievements" stuff that expands beyond the scope of the chart itself, but otherwise it looks great. Sergecross73 msg me 16:22, 4 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it's the same case with Country Airplay (created in 2012, but its statistics cover data from 1990). ARIA also recognized Kent Music Report data since 1983 as part of their chart history, although the official ARIA chart actually began in 1988. Bluesatellite (talk) 04:30, 6 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh okay, I didnt realize they were Billboard-sanctioned stats, I was afraid it was an OR thing. Nevermind, I'm fine then. Thanks for the extra context. Sergecross73 msg me 20:39, 6 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
