[edit]This page needs to be renamed: Hagerty spelt his name with one "g".
- I agree. Do you know how to do it? The article "Hagerty" is a redirect, so "Move" does not work. --nirvana2013 10:53, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
I've moved it - the "J" should have a dot after it, and there was no redirect at Thomas J. Hagerty. sjorford (?!) 12:20, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
DOB
[edit]Does anyone know the year he was born and the year he died? --86.133.239.0 19:43, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
- "Circa 1862" (per Fink) and nobody knows, respectively. Carrite (talk) 21:44, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Found a US Census record from his time in Cleburne that puts his birthdate in October 1857. PaladinOfGond (talk) 19:14, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
BLP?
[edit]Are we sure this guy is dead? Sarah777 (talk) 19:33, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- He's having his 150th birthday this year if he isn't. Believed to have died on Chicago's skid row in the 1920s. Carrite (talk) 21:43, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Oculist or Occultist?
[edit]Article says he became an oculist but that he lived in dire poverty. Is that what was meant, that he was an eye doctor, or an occultist as the former is fairly inconsistent with life in the underclass, while the latter not so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2D80:ED11:5300:399C:36F2:5030:A657 (talk) 23:24, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oculist aka eye doctor, as far as I can tell--added some sources that hint at his possible medical training. Born in 1857 and ordained in 1895, he had plenty of time to study medicine before his entry to seminary. PaladinOfGond (talk) 19:13, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
