Admittedly passengers on the Titanic would have been more spread out, but how on earth is an early nineteenth century Chinese junk able to carry 54% of the passenger and crew numbers of the Titanic when it was only 1.8% of the size? Edward Carson (talk) 03:00, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Closer to 4%. Tek Sing was 800–900 tons, Titanic was 22,000 NRT. My father came back from Europe after WWII on the Queen Mary and he claims that as a troop ship it carried 24 men in a cabin designed for four. Plus they berthed people in what would have been public spaces in peace time. Brooks (1781 ship) carried 2.3 persons per ton. So Tek Sing would have been ridiculously crowded but I think it's possible. GA-RT-22 (talk) 06:39, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
