Biodegradability / Composition of the Holder/Filter
[edit]They have these plastic Cigarette Holder / Cigarette Filter looking bits on the end that frequently are littered alongside the Cigarette Butts
Is this something like Cellulose Acetate that biodegrades (albeit slowly) too, or is it just HDPE or something etc?
Either way litter is litter, but i wanted to figure this out BEFORE someone says they degrade like cigarette butts do.
For what it’s worth too, granted circumstantial evidence, but when at the surface above the topsoil/grass etc, the Cigarette Butts turn to mush+degrade after a few weeks or so. If that just litters the area with microplastics is a whole other concern, but yeah Eric Lotze (talk) 18:38, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
