Lewis Kirk
[edit]Lewis Kirk was recently added based on a throw away line in an 1847 Scientific article "Lewis Kirk, the inventor of the steam hammer, and John Dodsworth, of Reading, Penn. have invented a new compound". Seems very little to base anything on but it gives a lead to follow. I found a US patent 5044 issued to him in April 1847 for "IMPROVEMENT IN STEAM TRIP-HAMMERs" - https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/e0/01/27/43bbd792af969c/US5044.pdf . I'm not sure if that is a new invention or an improvement on an existing invention. Stepho talk 23:47, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
