Title

Can someone please change the page title to smartCAT, according to the latest rebranding (see e.g. main page at www.smartcat.ai)? I don't know how to do this. VZakharov (talk) 05:18, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

The Mysterious Matter of the Missing CafeTran

I don't know how much of this you may have been following, but there are strange powers at work here on Wikipedia. For several years now, people have been trying to create a page for CafeTran. However, no matter what people do, the page is blocked every step of the way. Now, I know that if you are a professional translator, you will probably have heard of CafeTran by now. Hell, Proz.com, the largest platform for translators in the world offers it for free now as part of their Plus Package!

Anyway, the Wikipedia goblins have since removed ALL traces of all the hard work that we but into trying to create a page for CafeTran. Have a look at what is left:

If CafeTran is not ‘notable’ (I think that was their main reason for now allowing a page about it), then it would stand to reason that most of the above CAT tool articles should also be deleted, right?

COI edit request: typo and citation fixes

I work for Smartcat (disclosure on my user page) and am therefore not editing the article directly. The following are uncontroversial technical fixes; no content or POV changes:

1. In Products and services, first sentence: "Smartcat is an translation and localization platform" → "Smartcat is a translation and localization platform" (typo).

2. In the infobox launch_date reference, the publisher parameter reads "publisher=Slator]" with a stray bracket → should be "publisher=Slator".

3. In Business model, the reference for "customers in over 100 countries" has "website=localhost" → should be "website=Increment".

4. In External links, I suggest removing "Job openings at Smartcat" — a job-listings aggregator link that does not meet WP:ELNO. (Yes, I am asking to remove a link that benefits my employer's recruiting.)

COI edit request: lead description and founder attribution

I work for Smartcat (disclosure on my user page), so I am proposing these changes here rather than editing directly. Both are sourced to independent references already used in the article.

1. Lead sentence update. The current lead describes only the pre-2023 product ("combines CAT, TMS, and other translation technologies, and a marketplace"). Independent 2024 coverage describes the current product differently. Proposed replacement for the first paragraph, keeping neutral tone:

"Smartcat is an enterprise-focused, AI-powered translation and localization platform. It combines machine translation and AI-based content generation with computer-assisted translation (CAT) and translation management tools, and operates a marketplace of freelance language professionals."

Sources: TechCrunch ("AI-powered translation platform", ref name="tc"); SiliconANGLE ("Enterprise-focused AI translation platform and marketplace operator", already cited in Products and services); and Manufacturing Dive, which independently describes Smartcat as "an AI-driven translation platform" (Owens, Nathan. 2. Founder attribution. The History section notes Ivan Smolnikov left ABBYY LS "to fully focus on Smartcat" but the article never states he founded the company. Independent coverage of the 2024 Series C supports this: SiliconANGLE writes "founder and CEO Ivan Smolnikov" (https://siliconangle.com/2024/09/10/enterprise-focused-ai-translation-platform-marketplace-operator-smartcat-raises-43m-funding/ — already cited in Products and services), and TechCrunch (ref name="tc") describes him as "co-founder and CEO". I propose the History sentence read: "ABBYY LS's founder and CEO Ivan Smolnikov also left the company to fully focus on Smartcat, which he co-founded." — using "co-founded" per the more conservative TechCrunch wording, or whatever phrasing reviewers consider best supported.
