Jardim's status in the world of pickleball
[edit]I've made a bunch of edits to upgrade this article for accuracy. While Jardim is considered by many to be one of the greatest - early days- female players in pickleball, she has long been eclipsed by several younger players. For example, eighteen year old Anna Leigh Waters, who turned pro in 2019, has 148 gold metals compared to Jardims 32. Jardim doesn't compete in the PPA and no longer has a profile page at PPAtour.com (the most elite pro association in pickleball). [] KeyLimeGuy (talk) 22:03, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @KeyLimeGuy:. Thanks for taking an interest in editing Pickleball articles. It's much appreciated. However, I think your understanding that opponents and playing partners are unnecessary is incorrect.. The inclusion of opponents and playing partners from matches in major tournaments (at least in the finals) is a key element in our best peer-reviewed articles. Take a look at Martina Navratilova (B-class), Roger Federer (GA-class), or Kim Clijsters(FA-class) to see how to incorporate these elements. I agree that minor tournaments or insignificant matches with their opponents don't need to be included -- but it is always best to edit or improve the article in an expansive direction toward GA or FA class, so long as it is well-referenced.
- The addition of the term GOAT is more problematic. For one, "considered by many" is a subjective phrase usually avoided in Wikipedia articles (see Words to watch) -- especially when it is only attributed to a single non-notable journalist. GOAT is much argued and discussed even for historical sports figures where there is a multitude of references. For example, this current discussion about Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan and Lebron James. These arguments are almost endless. IMO, it is best to let statistics and facts speak for themselves, letting the reader decide rather than inject subjective terms with very few authoritative opinions. Pickleball is a nascent professional sport that will need some more years and a lot more authoritative sources to begin to sort this out.
