Respectfully, I’d like to clarify that Sectigo is **not** a subsidiary or brand of Xcitium. Sectigo was formerly Comodo CA, but it was **spun off as an independent company in 2017** when acquired by Francisco Partners. It was then rebranded as Sectigo in 2018 to eliminate confusion with its former parent, Comodo Group Inc. Xcitium, on the other hand, is the rebranded name of the remaining Comodo cybersecurity business.

Since the split, Sectigo has operated with **separate ownership, leadership, technology, and branding**, and is now one of the world’s largest commercial certificate authorities with over 700,000 customers. This distinction is well-documented in reliable secondary sources, such as the *Wall Street Journal*, *Phoenix Business Journal*, and *Infosecurity Magazine*.

For this reason, Sectigo meets Wikipedia’s notability standards for companies, and it seems more appropriate for the company to have its **own article**, distinct from Xcitium.

The reviewer will have a much easier time determining if the topic is notable or not if you omit the press release churnalism and other unreliable sources that are currently in the draft. WP:THREE has some good advice on this. MrOllie (talk) 19:52, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi all, based on helpful feedback I've received from User:MrOllie above and at Talk:Xcitium#Redirect_from_Sectigo_to_Xcitium, I have updated the draft with source improvements and expanded information about the company's early history. I have replaced article references from Channel Future, The SSL Store, MSSP Alert, IoT Now, and Help Net Security with better news articles that are more focused on the company. This includes several articles about the business when it was known as Comodo CA.

The previous version of the draft was based on sources using "Sectigo" but I see now that more text about Comodo CA helps show notability and avoids confusion with Comodo Group. I've tried a couple different ways to clarify the relationships between Comodo CA and Comodo Group with Xcitium here on Wikipedia. MrOllie has said that working to improve this draft about Sectigo is the best path forward, which I can certainly appreciate and which I've tried to do here.

I invite MrOllie and other editors to take a look at the updated sources and confirm if any are problematic. A few editors at Talk:Xcitium seem to agree that Sectigo should not direct to Xcitium, which is not the parent company. I would like to resubmit the draft for review but I wanted to check with MrOllie and others here first before doing so. I'd appreciate any help or advice. fully agree on here, even sources on the xcitium article itself show the timing of Comodo CA being sold (#6, 2017) and slightly later (#7, 2018) renamed WAY before anything with xcitium, with articles dated 2022 (#2 and #3).

and then there's the bonus chaos that comodo still seems to kinda exist as Comodo Security Solutions, Inc., allegedly (comodo.com) with the same HQ Address as xcitium, with the site seemingly working on the public facing parts at least.

but regardless of the "rest of comodo" and xcitium, sectigo being the new name of one of the biggest CAs out there, I think still is quite notable to cover
