not certain, but hasn't Massachusetts Ave always existed? it was named in honour of the State after the Hfx Explosion. QED the Robie St Extension may be the former name, but it is not the only former name.

I'm fairly certain that the name Massachusetts Avenue was a fairly recent innovation. You're correct that the name Massachusetts Avenue was chosen in commemoration of the aid provided by the State in the aftermath of the 1917 explosion. But as far as I remember, the new name was chosen very recently, and Robie Street Extension was the freeway's only official designation prior to the renaming in 2007.142.68.133.205 (talk) 22:01, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Clarification

"From Almon Street to the MacKay Bridge ramps, it has four lanes and is undivided" — isn't this part of the street not considered Robie, as Robie does not actually continue to the MacKay Bridge and instead runs through the North End, ending at Memorial Drive? Origin of the name

I was looking into different common names after seeing that there were some names that were shared between the Maritime provinces for example argyle st in Halifax and argyle shore provincial park in PEI I know that there is a robie st in Halifax and in Truro and was wondering if the origin was known for the name ~2026-43708-33 (talk) 00:05, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
