Suggest removing the section titled "Surviving rip tides" as that paragraph describes surviving a rip current, not a rip tide, and cites to a NOAA article called "Rip Current Survival Guide." 198.189.64.254 (talk) 23:52, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Agree with the removal suggestion, and further recommend a rewrite or re-organization of this entire article, as it is riddled with inconsistencies mostly derived from the erroneous conflation with rip currents. For example, the current picture likely depicts a rip current, not a rip tide (rip currents occur just off the beach, as shown, while rip tides occur at constricted inlets), despite what the caption says.
- Perhaps would be best to simply remove this entire article, to be replaced with a subsection on the page for rip currents explaining the somewhat confusing nomenclature. Something along the lines of the article found here currently as reference #2 (https://doi.org/10.2112%2Fjcoastres-d-12-00052.1). 98.47.51.117 (talk) 00:06, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
