COI and UDP tag

[edit]

Article was created by an editor who claimed this image as their own work on the commons, and I can not find the image online (which would imply copyright infringement). This implies a close connection between the uploader and the subject. Pinging @AAnish1121: (the Ac and image uploader) for comment.– Akhiljaxxn (talk) 17:00, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

That image is available online

Tagging with unreliable sources

[edit]

Some of the references on the article are unreliable and self-published.

1 - https://livelihoodmc.com/rhea-raj-2/ - Homepage of a music company

2 - https://goldhouse.org/people/rhea-raj/ Artist Portfolio lacking journalistic coverage

3 - https://www.rhearaj.com/tour Subject's website, certainly not independent

4 - https://web.archive.org/web/20200323083203/https://bollywoodchronicle.com/international-sensation-rhea-raj-making-wonders-with-her-enchanting-voice-across-the-globe/ Lacks editorial oversight and fact-checking

5 - Subject's Apple Music streaming page used as a reference at 17 instances.

@Wracking Pinging you here after seeing your message on my talk page. I'm aware of WP:ABOUTSELF, thanks for asking. You've added the subject's Twitter profile, a self-published primary source, which in my opinion can be replaced with a Wikipedia:Reliable source. For now, I haven't outright deleted any of those sources. However, I've added a maintenance temp with {{unreliable}} for further improvement.

Further, please feel free to remove the unreliable sources or substitute them with reliable one's. Following which the template can be removed.

Ping me if you find better sources. Happy editing! Retro music11 (talk) 18:04, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Retro music11: As for 1 and 3, non-independent does not mean unreliable—especially for claims like "she is signed to this label" (cited to that label). The same likely goes for 2; unideal but not outright unreliable. As for 5, discographies usually don't have citations to prove a song exists; streaming info on Apple Music and Tidal is often used for credits (see WP:TRACKLIST)—I don't think this is a major issue with the page. I agree that 4 is unreliable. Wracking talk! 03:54, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Wracking : For BLPs, Wikipedia:Verifiability comes from Independent reliable sources to prove the added information is true and accurate. Mere existence of information, when such information is solely available on primary and self-published sources (such as the subject's personal website and other home-pages) as in this case, isn't worthy of inclusion. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are unreliable sources as they lack editorial insight. Subject's personal webpage can be added as an External link and shouldn't be added outright to validate self-published claims. As for 5, I agree that it can be used per Wikipedia:TRACKLIST.
There's no issue on the page other than few unreliable sources, for which the page is tagged. Retro music11 (talk) 16:29, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Retro music11: 1 and 3 are used for WP:ABOUTSELF claims; 2 is used similarly. {{Unreliable}} advises using inline tags rather than an article-wide template. Wracking talk! 18:26, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Wracking The use of 3 - https://www.rhearaj.com/tour the subject's personal website to add information on her Tour Dates is WP:PROMO. Such information should be removed, unless we find a WP:RS to verify its accuracy. WP:SPS advises if the information in question is suitable for inclusion, someone else will likely have published it in independent, reliable sources. It's the same with 1 and 2. And we've already agreed to 4 being unreliable. Retro music11 (talk) 20:45, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Retro music11 If material is not suitable for inclusion because of a lack of non-independent sources, that is not inherently a reliability issue and {{unreliable}} is not an appropriate maintenance tag. I removed 3 as I don't see the tour dates clearly listed on the tour site. I've left a note at WP:RSN in hopes of getting another perspective. Wracking talk! 00:33, 9 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@WrackingGreat call! I'm following that note. Retro music11 (talk) 08:18, 9 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

3O Response: Generally I don't really object to the sources in question except for 4 which is unreliable. There doesn't need to be a citation for the singles. Also, I'd recommend removing the tour section entirely. That does wander into promo territory. If there's notable coverage of the tour itself that could be included in the career section. Nemov (talk) 20:52, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Nemov Thanks for the feedback. 4 has been removed along with 2 other sources that didn't seem reliable.
@Wracking I'm removing the Tour Section per 3O Response. If there's notable coverage available for the tour, please include it in the career section. I tried fetching for WP:RS covering the tour but found none. Retro music11 (talk) 20:02, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Nemov and @Wracking I'd removed the Shoutoutla.com source earlier https://shoutoutla.com/meet-rhea-raj-artist-songwriter-producer-and-dancer/ - It was used for the claim - "Her mother runs the label with her." I've retained the claim and marked it with a cit tag instead.
Let me know if you'll want me to re-add that one. Retro music11 (talk) 20:11, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
