Lyme disease

I think, it's a bit problematic, that the term Lyme disease is thrown around that much since it isn't very clear, if it's about Chronic Lyme disease (which I suspect and which is NOT a proper or correct diagnosis for anything, since it doesn't exist) or if he had late stage Lyme disease.

The treatments, that are mentioned, don't fit at all to Lyme disease, but rather sound like experimental treatments for the symptom complex, that is sometimes categorized as chronic Lyme disease by people, who don't know how to call it.

Honestly, nobody knows how to classify these complexes yet, but research is pretty firm, that Lyme disease or Borellia infections are very likely not the cause and I think, it should be clarified on a Wikipedia article, what his diagnosis is. ~2026-11719-55 (talk) 19:23, 21 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why should it be, what impacted me the most about the article? This is not about my personal impact by an article, but a Wikipedia discussion page after all.

It's just that the term chronic Lyme disease is very problematic since it's used by quacks to sell expensive and sometimes dangerous treatments, that oftentimes don't help.

And in a Wikipedia page it should be clarified as much as possible IMO, since it's not just some random subjective place on the internet, but the articles should strive towards being objectively true.

And a small internet tip:

I agree with you, reading about it it does sound a lot like chronic lyme disease... which indeed should not be referred to as "lyme disease", they have nothing to do with one another, one being a misnomer for a set of symptoms, and the other the result of a tick-carried infection. ~2026-25326-56 (talk) 15:38, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The article is seriously flawed by referencing Lyme disease in the way it does. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks. It is treated successfully and straightforwardly with antibiotics. It does not cause the symptoms described here.
