Prod

[edit]

I contested the prod on this. The article simply needs better sourcing and expanding. His starring roles in all 4 Best of the Best movies easily meet the requirements of WP:ENT, as well as being a producer for all of them and the director for the last two and a writer as well. Then there are the other movies. He easily passes notability. One of LA Times sources already used confirms Rhee was a producer in Ninja Turf, as well as acting in it.The other LAT source shows that he was both an actor and a writer for the first Best of the Best film. 1980 Asia Games

[edit]

Can someone familiar with either Rhee or Taekwondo verify that he competed in this tournament? I made an edit to state what I thought the original editor meant, but their reference does not provide any info. 47.137.182.8 (talk) 05:17, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

I found the referenced article [Tae Kwon Do Times July 2015 page 58] and it offers suspiciously little detail; Rhee supposedly beat a legendary Korean fighter who is not named. There was no Asian Games in 1980; Taekwondo at the Asian Games began in 1986. There was a 1980 Asian Taekwondo Championships. The USA never competed in the Asian Games or Asian Taekwondo Championships, perhaps because it's not in Asia. There was Taekwondo at the 1981 World Games, Koreans winning all events bar one, no sign of Rhee. He may well have derived inspiration from some upset victory in 1980, but not as described. jnestorius(talk) 01:22, 16 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
