The following statement is inaccurate and misleading, "Donald Trump would later abandon compliance with the treaty by the United States in October 2018." The United States did not "abandon compliance;" rather, the United States legally withdrew from the INF Treaty pursuant to the express terms of the agreement found in Article XV, giving Russia formal notice six months in advance of the official withdrawal (i.e. notice was provided February 2, 2019, with withdrawal occurring August 2, 2019). An edit has been submitted citing the official U.S. State Department link. The proffered edit reads, "Donald Trump announced in October 2018 that he would withdraw the United States from the treaty if Russia did not return to full compliance. Subsequently, on February 2, 2019, the United States provided Russia with formal legal notice of its intent to withdraw from the treaty in six months pursuant to Article XV, and then officially withdrew from the treaty on August 2, 2019.
