Hi @Helper211, there seems to be some confusion about the nationality. I'll explain why "Canadian-Dutch" is not a valid nationality, and reverted your edit (and another person who was confused for the same reason):
Nationality has a specific meaning here. To say that someone is Canadian-Dutch (or any other combo) does not require that they be a Canadian national. However, to say that someone has the Canadian-Dutch nationality must mean that they have the Canadian and Dutch nationality - so dual citizenship.
In I Spent Over 12 Hours on an Amtrak Train (on purpose), he makes a reference about using the Canadian passport the last time. This is because you cannot enter Canada with another country's passport if you're a citizen of that country. As a result, he lost his Canadian citizenship when he naturalised as a Dutch citizen, because the IND does not allow dual citizenship with limited exceptions.
The sources you linked do not prove otherwise. One is too old, while the other just says "Canadian-Dutch" (see my first point).
To give another example: many people originally from India have the American nationality, and had to give up their Indian nationality, since India does not allow dual citizenship. You can call them an Indian-American, since that is not tied to nationality. However, legally they are only American and do not possess an Indian passport.

On March 13th, user "Toarin" added unrelated references to the introductory paragraph. I removed these citations on March 26th because they provided no additional information relevant to the introduction beyond the citations that were already there.
Today (May 22nd) I noticed that Toarin undid my change on May 16th, with no reason given. The articles he is trying to add appear to be defamatory and I believe that they violate Wikipedia rules around biographies of living persons, so I have reverted his latest change. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Slackbus (talk • contribs) 20:11, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand. Are we talking about the content you removed in this diff? If so, please can you explain what you think is defamatory here? While doing so please can you take care not to make personal attacks on any other editors. I have reviewed the links carefully and I can't see anything defamatory. One of them covers a disagreement but not in a defamatory way. The links are at least plausibly on-topic. I am not going to reinstate the edit, as I don't think they are necessary at that location, but at least two of them seem to be RS and I think it would be fine to use them in the body of the article if anybody wants use them to expand the article.
The moral of the story here is that people should not throw allegations of defamation around casually and without good reason. It only distracts from and obscures other issues. --DanielRigal (talk) 11:23, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can someone explain why most of the references contain extended quotes from the articles? The general purpose is to allow readers to check the reference themselves, not to replicate the material here unless they're likely to have particular difficulty finding the necessary content, right?
