Nyankole
[edit]According to Ethnologue, which I consider one of the best liguistical sources online, the language is *mainly* called Nyankole (there are other names as well), which also makes sense given the "laws" of Bantu languages (perhaps kinyankole). Runyankole is a "standardization of the western languages (Nyankore-Chiga and Nyoro-Tooro)".
Also note the rest of what they write about the language: "Nyankole, Nyoro, and their dialects are considered by some to be one language (78% to 96% lexical similarity). 84% to 94% lexical similarity with Chiga, 75% to 86% with Tooro (Nyoro), 81% with Zinza, 78% with Nyambo, 74% with Haya, 68% with Kerewe. "
My suggestion: unite this article with the article about Nyankole (not written yet) and with articles about other names of dialects, with redirects if possible.

I should say that Banyankore mainly use the term Runyankole or Runyankore for their language. They NEVER use the word nyankole. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Internationalstudent (talk • contribs) 23:53, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Why "Nkore"?
[edit]Should be moved per WP:COMMONNAME ? In ictu oculi (talk) 14:05, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- So, which of the 7 other names (!?) listed in the article do you suggest we go with? And based on what? (Note that we generally go with the name that is most often used in English scholarship about the language for our article titles, not the word that native speakers use. Thus we have an article for Spanish, not español.) - dcljr (talk) 07:02, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
