It is only a tiny suggestion but copy is written then edited by the sub editor. So asserting newspapers employ a 'prolix poorly edited writing style' is in reality purely a function of bad editing. Thus a 'poorly edited prolix writing style' may better describe the content. But I hasten to add that this is a tiny suggestion in no way asserting that the original writer did anything less than a great job.
