Do these figures exist?

[edit]

Are others aware of any scholarly sources that refer to the "Nesoi" as a collective of deities? The article's content and the quoted source have clearly come from Theoi.com. Modern translations of the relevant passage of Callimachus's Hymn to Delos render the term as the regular English word "islands" (without capitalisation), and Stephens' commentary on the hymn does the same. I'm unable to find mention of the "Nesoi" in any Greek mythological reference work, including the RE, Brill's New Pauly, the Oxford Classical Dictionary, Gantz, Hard, Grimal, Tripp, the DGRBM, and the LIMC. Callimachus does describe various islands as forming a choral procession, but this doesn't imply the existence of a collective of gods known as the "Nesoi".
