lead video
[edit]is an entire 20-minute video really necessary for the lead photo/video? 晚安 14:24, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
Removal of unrelated/unnecessary sections
[edit]The Media Platforms', 'Content creators in Asia', and 'Content creators in North America' sections are not directly related to the concept the article is about. The 'Media Platforms' sections is too broad of a topic to be included in the article. The other two sections are too subjective and opinionated and, if anything, should get their own pages. I just started being a contributor so I'm not sure if I should just act on the changes I propose. I hope this is a good first step in improving the article. 19:23, 20 May 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vibii (talk • contribs)
First widespread appearance of mukbang in media
[edit]In the NBC tv series 30 Rock Season 2(2007) beginning with a mention of a character eating 4 slices of pizza on stage while performing in a play in episode 1 and a character requesting another character to eat in front of him in episode 2, this is the first televised incident of people watching others eat for entertainment. Writer and producer of 30 Rock Tina Fey has stated this show is directly inspired by her time as head writer for the tv show Saturday night live, implying the act of watching others eat as entertainment was noticeable behavior in the 90's and early 2000's, during the time she was head writer 71.47.153.30 (talk) 15:15, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Italicize?
[edit]Should "mukbang" be italicized per MOS:FOREIGNITALIC? I think potentially; if you look at dictionaries, it doesn't seem to be an accepted word in English. I'd argue it's functionally now a word in English, but that's just an opinion; dictionaries are stronger evidence. 104.232.119.107 (talk) 05:29, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Recent addition
[edit]@Eistreter. See edit history for context. I'm pretty certain this edit is unproductive as it's unsourced, per WP:SYNTH. I already provided an explanation, but Eistreter hasn't provided an adequate response. They've also insulted me and doubled down on the insult.
If this disagreement continues I'll reach out to WP:3O. Fairly certain that the addition is inappropriate. If you continue insulting me I'll reach out to WP:ANI. seefooddiet (talk) 19:58, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- As a heads up, if there's no response in 7 days I'll revert. Don't insult me, keep the discussion respectful. seefooddiet (talk) 01:20, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Here's my plan to edit this article: I plan to expand the article by adding a “Regional variations” subsection within the Culture section to address geographic gaps and a section on "Positive effects". The Criticism section will be further developed by introducing new subsections under “Health impacts”. In addition, I'll revise the inaccurate parts, such as the description under the "Alcohol Consumption" section.Zzzz6 (talk) 20:11, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
Lead video copyright status uncertain
[edit]Lots of people will take it upon themselves to "archive" livestreams. Do we know for sure that this is legitimately the same Jangpa in the video, as who runs the YouTube marking this video as free licensed?
This same account has taken to uploading video of video game cut scenes, play throughs, and even feature length videos shot as if a video game (but I presume it's actual footage?) of a boy courting and meeting the parents, etc. The latter has only 1421 views in a few months of being up, so I presume it's lifted from elsewhere wholesale.
I'd be much more comfortable if we had taken this from a channel where it was a deliberate upload, and it was more obviously focused on mukbangs. -- Zanimum (talk) 11:05, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- It's them. You can see them appear in other videos on their youtube channel and it's the same. They're just a general streamer that does various types of videos. grapesurgeon (talk) 13:07, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
