Yes, it DOES occur as a natural free element

Molybdenum DOES occur in the nature in free, metallic form:

The more, there is another polymorph of metallic form that is found naturally - hexamolybdenum.

Always use Mindat for correct and on-time mineralogical and geochemical data.
