Possible Death

[edit]

Someone made an edit claiming that this person has been assassinated citing "Hussain Abdul-Hussain". I cannot find this source but I figured it might be worth tracking here if we get an actual reliable source. RisingTzar (talk) 03:08, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Israel's Channel 12 reported it. | MK17b | (talk) 03:57, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Times of Israel has reported it as well. However, we must wait for official confirmation from Lebanon as well before committing to reporting his death. ~2026-13496-83 (talk) 10:25, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Mohmammad Raad just released a public statement about something unrelated: https://www.aljadeed.tv/news/%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AA/560048/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%A8-%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%85%D8%AF-%D8%B1%D8%B9%D8%AF-%D8%AA%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%8B-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%AA%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%AD-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3-%D9%86%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%81-%D8%B3%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%85-%D9%84%D8%A7-%D9%86%D8%B1%D9%89-%D9%85%D9%88%D8%AC%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%8B-%D8%A3%D9%86-%D9%8A%D8%AA
It seems that he didn't die. RisingTzar (talk) 16:57, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Iran international and Israeli channel 12 officially reported his death.

[edit]

they did ~2026-57934 (talk) 07:31, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Iran International is a London-based news operation and shouldn't be treated as a reliable voice of Iran WP:RS (or Lebanon for that matter). ~2026-13496-83 (talk) 10:36, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please make a vecant seat

[edit]

Please make a vecant seat, just now Mohammad Raad is VERY likely dead, He was a member of parliament of lebanon sense 1992 form the party Hezbollah of course, a vacant seat should be added and the chart should be updated ~2026-57934 (talk) 07:50, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Avoid reporting death unless confirmation from Lebanon/Hezbollah

[edit]

According to Wiki policy, we cannot just report his death just because there are reports from Israeli sources. We should wait till additional information arises. ~2026-13496-83 (talk) 10:58, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

FWIW None of the reports are Israeli. They’re Saudi. | MK17b | (talk) 16:55, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the mistake. I realized later that the Israeli articles were referring to Al Arabiya's article. OwlCritique (talk) 17:22, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Remove all mentions of death until confirmation from Lebanese sources

[edit]

We should remove all mentions of death until a Lebanese news source or Hezbollah officially confirms Raad's death. Someone has prematurely edited the Wikipedia page about the alleged assassination of Raad on 2 March 2026. So far, there are only news reports that rely on unverified claims from Israeli news sources.

This will adhere to Wikipedia policies WP:BLP, WP:V, WP:RS and WP:NPOV. ~2026-13414-70 (talk) 13:01, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: Wikipedia requires reliable sources. It does not require sources from a particular official source or source of a particular country. meamemg (talk) 15:42, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
All references currently mentioned on the site trace back to Al Arabiya (Saudi-based news channel). Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there are no sources (as of writing this reply) that trace back to other verifiable independent sources like Reuters, AP, or even Lebanese-affiliated media sources. Isn't it a little biased to definitively report Raad's death without having another information source?
I believe this article should only report his alleged death until more information comes out. In my opinion, the article as it stands right now violates WP:BLP and WP:NPOV at the very least. OwlCritique (talk) 16:26, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
He does seem pretty alive though.

I think Al Arabiya should be deprecated. They keep spreading misinformation; they've never been a good source for information on geopolitics but it's gotten considerably worse now. WP:ALARABIYA RisingTzar (talk) 18:26, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
