McSweeney
[edit]Usually explained as a gallowglass sept arriving from Argyll to Ulster in the 11th century. Also said to be a branch of the O'Neills (https://www.libraryireland.com/irish-families/mcsweeney.php). O'Neill's issue from Niall of the Nine Hostages so could be imagined to have taken lands in Scotland and returned as mercenaries. Would be interesting to unwrap this.
