More on German WP

[edit]

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Sixtus Satu Katja (talk) 16:05, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes! Mario Sixtus was one of the few european film makers that put the focus of the international audiences on the actors strike in Hollywood fighting against ai software. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt33334406/ 2003:FC:D717:13:E4A9:9C78:8759:C9FE (talk) 14:08, 23 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Notability? Yes!

[edit]

Hi One|5969! Appreciate your thoughts. I do think, though, that Sixtus is notable. English WP covers more territory than the mainland U.S. And in Europe, English is the lingua franca, nobody uses Latin anymore. And in European context, being a director for public broadcasters equals notable. I added a link to a doco on Hollywood wooing Chinese government. Hope this helps! Edit war about false visa claim

[edit]

An anonymous user permanently re-edits this page inserting false claims about an allegedly revoked visa. There is no proof for this claim. News articles that simply repeat this rumor and copy from each other are not considered valid sources. Therefore it doesn't meet Wikipedia's quality criteria. Most likely, these are repeated attempts of defamation. ~2025-31460-03 (talk) 15:08, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

The section cites Süddeutsche Zeitung and Berliner Zeitung. Given that they appear to be reliable sources, the burden is on you to prove that these claims are false (preferably with another reliable source). I am restoring the paragraph in the absence of any contradicting information. Iiii I I I (talk) 22:04, 12 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Here is the US State Department tweet announcing the revocation of his visa; here is a BBC article confirming visas were revoked, though it doesn't mention Sixtus by name. Iiii I I I (talk) 22:08, 12 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, Iiii I I I! I checked your refs - sorry, I don't agree. This is a living person bio. And if the name is not mentioned in any source, then…  that simply is not good enough. Encyclopedia, not blog-post! Please revert your edit, Thank you and have a good evening,  Preceding unsigned comment added by Satu Katja (talkcontribs) 22:18, 12 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
As I just said, there are already two reliable sources that mention him by name. Iiii I I I (talk) 22:30, 12 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Iiii I I I! Could you kindly attach links to the relevant articles in these renowned publications (a Wikipedia custom, would you not say?) so that everyone here can judge for themselves? I assume that the articles are in German, but I would also assume that it is certainly easier to check a passage than just naming a newspaper. How would you feel if someone wrote: It's written in the New York Times, go check for yourselves? Happy day, everyone! Satu Katja (talk) 07:31, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
As I also said, they are already cited in the article. Iiii I I I (talk) 08:05, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
The article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung asserts Mario Sixtus' identity without naming any own sources, without any references, witnesses, or any kind of evidence whatsoever. The text in the Berliner Zeitung is mainly a rant against public television, citing Mario Sixtus as an example of journalism that the author of this text does not like – naturally also without providing even a shred of evidence for Sixtus' identity. Furthermore, the Berliner Zeitung is known as a propaganda paper close to Putin circles and is not considered a reputable source in Germany anyway. Wikipedia should not become a platform for rumors and untruths, especially when it comes to the reputation of a living person. Wikipedia is not “X.” ~2025-33269-69 (talk) 10:00, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Your evaluation of the articles' sources and motivations is considered original research, which does not belong on Wikipedia – we simply write what reliable sources have said. In any case, here is an article from Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, a newspaper of record. Iiii I I I (talk) 21:00, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, @Iiii I I I, but you're wrong. FAZ states "Bei dem Deutschen soll es sich um den Drehbuchautoren und Publizisten Mario Sixtus handeln. ("The German is believed to be screenwriter and publicist Mario Sixtus.") This is not in accordance with the rules about reliable sources in Wikipedia. It's an allegation, an assumption not a fact. And this is exactly how the Wikipedia article should mirror the sources: either it's not mentioned at all since you're wide into the field of original research (as opposed to @Satu Katja who's just trying to straighten out your so called "facts") or it's mentioned as the source states it – as an assumption. Grizma (talk) 12:36, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
P. S.: I exchanged Berliner Zeitung for FAZ. Berliner Zeitung unfortunately can no longer be considered a neutral and reliable medium, it has a political tendency towards the far right. Grizma (talk) 12:43, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
