Age

[edit]

Run into some confusion as there are conflicting reports on this. For example, these sources from summer 2012 state he was 18 at the time and had recently left school. – Starklinson 07:10 UTC

@Starklinson: I'd be more inclined to believe that he was older than 23, especially since the band members are of that age too. His birthday is definitely 5 February though, there are multiple Tweets that confirm it, eg one example. – DarkGlow (contribstalk) 11:59, 30 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@DarkGlow: Don't disagree there. I suppose that would make his birth year 1994? Just a few days younger than Harry Styles. – Starklinson 01:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Additional source: this from 9 February in local paper also claims he is 27. – Starklinson 09:30, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Starklinson: I'd say he is 27 with all these WP:RS saying as such. I'd also remove the dubious tag now since it seems to be concrete to me. Well done with finding the sourcing! – DarkGlow (contribstalk) 21:40, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

his birthday is 05 February 1993. I went to primary school with him and he was in my class 86.157.132.41 (talk) 23:36, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I did find this which suggests '93 – Starklinson 04:53, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Neutral Citations

[edit]

Please keep this page neutral with verifiable information (i.e. direct quotes and reliable sources). Do not add speculative commentary or articles with speculative language such as "rumored" as in the Elle article. Reguse32 (talk) 22:38, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Reguse32: You are removing CITED information for no apparent reason and will be blocked if you continue to do so. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:42, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Citations are not neutral. Reguse32 (talk) 22:46, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Citations are removed to keep article neutral. No speculative language should be included. Reguse32 (talk) 22:47, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Reguse32: Then discuss it here and find WP:CONSENSUS for its removal. The current consensus is that People Magazine IS a reliable source for WP:BLP. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:48, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
People can be reliable, however, not every article they publish is; as it is an entertainment outlet. The article should be backed up by direct quotes and the explicitly address the topic. Reguse32 (talk) 22:52, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
You may think that, but that is NOT the CONSENSUS here. You do not get to exclusively override consensus. That is simply not how wikipedia works. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:53, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Reguse32: see WP:PEOPLEMAG. You are trying to overrule well established consensus because you don't like something. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:54, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not every article from a reliable source is automatically legitimate. Additionally the Elle article in the Personal Life section contains the speculative language of "rumored". Commentary not contained in the article was also added. Reguse32 (talk) 22:56, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Once again, you need to read WP:CONSENSUS. You don't get to exclusive override what has been decided because you don't like it. In any event, you've been blocked from editing the page because you fail listen or follow the established rules. If you resume your disruptive editing after your block is lifted, you will just be blocked again.
If you think this content should be removed, then start a discussion about it!!! Don't just keep reverting other people's edits. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:59, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am walking away from this. I have other projects to work on. PhilKnight has decided that my edits to remove the disruptive editing constituted warring and I will respect that decision and, even if my block is lifted, not edit this page further. I am also unwatching it and will not bother trying to correct the vandalism anymore.
@Aston305, UmbyUmbreon, Jessicapierce, and TonySt: as you have all been involved in preventing the previous attempts to remove this information that is cited by a reliable source (see WP:PEOPLEMAG) I would encourage you to keep an eye on this page. I flat out guarantee that in 7 days when Reguse32's block is lifted, they will immediately resume removing this cited content from the page. I hope that one of you will step in to prevent that vandalism from occurring again. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:36, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to pile on here but it should be obvious that edit warring is not useful. Sure, the rules say that you can revert someone adding poop all day, but think about how that would actually work—are you really prepared to press rollback one more time than the other person clicks undo? Do you really want your name to be permanently recorded in history as having reverted something a dozen times (instead of getting help)? Further, the text concerned (diff) is text-book garbage with a text-book garbage reference! Johnuniq (talk) 03:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Johnuniq: I will NOT defend my part in the (what is now clear to me) WARRING that we engaged in. Clicking rollback repeatedly was not helpful, let alone allowed and as an experienced editor I should know better. No excuse. Please see my mea culpa here.
As for the content, I would point out a few facts.
  1. There seems to be a dedicated effort by multiple vandals to remove the references to Luke Newton's current romantic partner. Consulting the edit history of the page and the multiple edit requests above reveals multiple Temporary accounts working very hard to get this information removed. Why? I don't know or particularly care, but WP:PEOPLEMAG is most def a valid source for the partnership.
  2. I find Reguse32's editing history VERY suspicious. This page was protected so only WP:CONFIRMED users could edit it after multiple temporary accounts removed content from the page. Minutes later, that account was created. The required edits, and only the required edits, to achieve WP:CONFIRMED status were performed, and then Reguse32 started performing the exact same edits that the temporary accounts had performed that resulted in them being blocked from the page. That is either the same person (or persons), or one hell of a coincidence.
  3. Regardless of whether they are the same person, Reguse32 is very clearly a WP:SPA whose only edits besides those required to obtain Confirmed status have bee directly related to this articles. Not here to build an encyclopedia, just looking to remove this particular content for some reason.
  4. Reguse32 has already tried to convince another editor to edit on their behalf since they are blocked from editing this page.
I have already voiced my desire to walk away from this issue, but keep getting pulled back in by pings. I have no intention of editing Luke Newton when my block is lifted. I will leave that content dispute to others but still have some serious concerns about this user and their editing. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:00, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am a new user but have had no involvement on this page until today. I do know that there is a fandom surrounding this actor in which there are several hot topics, thus the need for unbiased voices and neutrality. I do not appreciate being accused of trying vandalize this page nor of being a single user account seeing as my edits are across the board on different subjects nor of asking another editor to edit on my behalf. That is patently false and unfair to raise suspicion about my intentions because you disagree. I apologized to the admin for my contribution to the warring which was not my intent. I did not add or misrepresent the page, rather removed biased content which is now being discussed. Reguse32 (talk) 06:02, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

This is to clarify that I am a new user but have had no involvement on this page until today. That is patently false and a ploy by the warring editor to raise suspicion about my intentions. I apologized to the admin for my contribution to the warring which was not my intent. I recommend waiting to see if there are opinions from other editors at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Luke Newton. Johnuniq (talk) 06:05, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Understood. There are two different articles in question - The Elle magazine citation which includes the "rumored" verbiage in the Personal life section and the People magazine citation which is used in the Partners section. In this case of People "There is consensus that People magazine can be a reliable source in biographies of living persons, but the magazine should not be used for contentious claims unless supplemented with a stronger source." What is used is a contentious claim not providing any direct quotes or any other stronger source material. Reguse32 (talk) 06:25, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Please be patient and wait. I have no knowledge regarding this topic and will remain uninvolved (see WP:INVOLVED). I will outline the general principles which should apply for the text in question. First is the reliability of the sources. That is questionable in a case like this because no one is an authority on the love life of people they don't know (the only facts involved concern what the individuals have said and what they have been observed doing). Next, WP:DUE must be considered: are the assertions documented elsewhere? If not, why would they be considered sufficiently important ("due") to be reported in an encyclopedic biographical article? Johnuniq (talk) 06:37, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the explanation. Reguse32 (talk) 06:45, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Dave Moore radio interview

[edit]

I do not think this interview should be added to the private life section. The host is talking about Mr. Newton's on screen marriage to Nicola Coughlan in Season 4 of Bridgerton in which they play a married couple. He is clearly referring to their characters. There is currently no credible source to suggest a real life marriage and the actors have never discussed it. Hamnetty38 (talk) 13:46, 9 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Relationships

[edit]

Wikipedia is not a gossip magazine about who dated who. Inclusion of relationships in biographies of living persons need reliable sources. When sources mention something as being "reportedly", it means they're not willing to state it as fact. Which means Wikipedia should certainly not be either. Please find a reliable source before adding things like this. Thanks. Escape Orbit (Talk) 05:45, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I understand. Miss.Sophia.F (talk) 11:41, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Whilst it is not a gossip magazine, it is well known and confirmed by the actor himself regarding his previous relationships. He dated both Sophia Simnett and Jade Davies at different times and it was well-known and documented for years. I'm not sure why the sudden change in this information as it is was definitely not gossip at the time but publicly confirmed by both parties. @Miss.Sophia.F I'm sure we can find actual quotes from the actor himself. Hamnetty38 (talk) 17:40, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The last source about Jade was an Interview, were Luke Newton mentioned Jade and called her "girlfriend". I dont know why people think, its not reliable. This back and fourth is annoying. Miss.Sophia.F (talk) 22:07, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think the issue about this source is Newton does not say who his girlfriend is, it's been added as an assumption by the journalist. He may have been talking about someone else entirely. We might choose to trust the journalist, but something definite from Newton himself would be better. The source itself I don't know, it's possibly not the most reliable of sources. Perhaps Nikkimaria could explain why she removed it? But if they have been in a relation for long enough and it is, as claimed, a well known fact, then surely better sources are around? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 07:57, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Tbh: This back and forth with @Nikkimaria without an explaination, is tiring me. I'm going to stay out of the "relationship" issue.
Fyi: There are plenty of official photos of Newton and Davies. They were together for about four years (2019-2023)! There were also statements, private pictures, e.g. about the relationship on both of their social media accounts (which are, of course, no longer there). Various media outlets reported on the breakup.
Newton rarely spoke/speak publicly about his relationships. This interview (about Jade) was the first and only time he opened up about it. There aren't any other sources, as he tends to keep a low profile.
I'll continue to keep an eye on his wikipedia page (and editing it) but I won't investigate further in the "relationship" issue. @Escape Orbit @Hamnetty38 Miss.Sophia.F (talk) 10:42, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I will look for direct quotes. The issue with finding much published material is that Mr. Newton wasn't as famous yet. I did find on "The Stage is Yours" podcast (@thestageisyourspodcast8781 on Youtube) at the 25:09 minute mark, and as reiterated in the transcript, Jade Davies states that her partner plays Colin Bridgerton on Bridgerton. The only one actor who plays that character is Luke Newton.Hamnetty38 (talk) Hamnetty38 (talk) 00:19, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The issue is that information in biographies of living people need to meet a higher standard of sourcing, so things like gossip sites or Daily Mail aren't going to meet that. Nor can we draw assumptions based on photos of the subject with someone. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:20, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, I'm very aware of what sourcing is needed for BLPs but direct quotes usurp all of that. I don't know why you are pointing out the Daily Mail to me as I didn't mention that; I am referencing a podcast where Jade Davies, Luke's ex girlfriend, clearly states that the identity of her partner as Luke. Secondly, according the guidelines, a verified social media account where the subject states something about themselves may be usable if there is no reason to doubt it. That may be the territory we are entering into since Mr. Newton was formerly not as famous and much of hiz relationship(s) were documented on social media. Thirdly, the initial issue was around your approach. The change was made with no explanation, twice, which is in not in the spirit of accuracy and neutrality but rather, edit warring. Such things should be taken to an administrator in that case. Hamnetty38 (talk) 00:37, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
My comment wasn't in response to you, nor is it accurate to say the change was made without explanation - I indicated in my edit summary that it was because a non-RS was cited. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:53, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Your response was directly after mine and you didn't @ anyone so please be more specific. Saying "no it's not" is not a reasonable explanation especially when you can see from the revisions the initial changes were made by another Registered User and there was a Talk discussion initiated on the matter. You did not attempt to join in on that discussion until I addressed you specifically. Piling on is not helpful and removing an edit that has been there for years with little to no explanation is not helpful and doing so to try to make a point is against guidelines. Whilst I agree a gossip magazine like "Pop Sugar" is not a reliable source the records of these relationships were never in dispute as they were documented on social media for years by Mr. Newton and/ or the partners involved themselves. We will gather all of the information needed for accuracy and will include the guidance of an Administrator should a warring spirit of revisions on this BLP continue. Hamnetty38 (talk) 01:15, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:BLPRS, "contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion. This applies whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable". That is true regardless of how long it's been there and who may have added it, and is not edit-warring. Suggest also having a look at WP:BLPSPS. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:35, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The key word is "contentious", meaning people or topics likely to cause disagreement, heated arguments, or controversy. Luke Newton's former relationships were universally recognized without contention. There was little doubt nor reason to doubt the statements of Luke and his former girlfriend(s) who publicly acknowledged one another as partners. You could see through the revision history that it was being handled and there were already reasonable discussions being had on a few different sections, including the personal life; you made a non issue contentious by edit warring and trying to make a point.
My aim is for fairness and accuracy. I was curious why it was changed without explanation, knowing there were direct quotes from Mr. Newton and his partner themselves (and to your point, they should be included if available), which is why the information has gone unchallenged. An explanation from you was warranted if you were to use good judgment and maintain a spirit of neutrality and accuracy versus warring, which you are still doing by mischaracterizing a guideline to try to make a point. You claim you initially gave a valid explanation so you must have thought it required one then. Beyond that, one should understand that responding with childish verbiage such as "no it's not" when you had other avenues to address it are non-productive. Regardless, as I said, we can gather the most reliable information available on this matter and thereafter involve an administrator, if necessary. Hamnetty38 (talk) 02:20, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It does not appear that this avenue is any more productive, so let's see if anyone wants to bring forward reliable sourcing for these claims. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:34, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Correct. So next time when you see a non- contentious claim that you believe is not properly sourced and is already being discussed per the revision history and in the Talk sections, please provide a reasonable explanation so we can approach it in a fair manner. Hamnetty38 (talk) 02:43, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please read about combining sources to construct things here. Using a source that says one part, then another that says a second part, and putting them together to state a third, is not permitted. For the article to state something it needs to be in a reliable source in its entirety. You are probably correct, these people are probably all part of the same family, but Wikipedia requires more than "probably" for is content.--Escape Orbit (Talk) 07:09, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
