"... the real war"
[edit]The title page of the book has ". . . the real war will never get into the books": Selections from Writers During the Civil War
(Actually there is no colon before "Selections"; I inserted that as one does with any subtitle.) The quotation marks are not italicized. It doesn't matter whether the ellipsis is italicized because dots look the same italicized or unitalicized. I italicized the subtitle because I thought it looked odd not to, but maybe it should not be italicized in order to conform to the title page. Your thoughts? Actually, do whatever you want regarding italicizing the subtitle, but please keep the quotation marks unitalicized and keep the opening quotation mark before the ellipsis. A second thought. Titles on title pages are never italicized, with the opening quotation in this one an exception. So, perhaps, in listing the book, we should not italicize the opening quotation but should italicize the subtitle.Maurice Magnus (talk) 12:19, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
