Creating Movie programming page for Hostar
[edit]Hi, it is evident that Hotstar is moving towards releasing exclusive movies. I think it will be a good idea to separate Movies and Series programming pages. Just for time being I'm adding Movies section in this page only. Saichaitanya4496 (talk) 17:53, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of original programs distributed by Netflix which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 08:33, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
Created a new Headline namely "Former exclusive television distribution".
[edit]I have created a new headline called "Former exclusive television distribution". That headline focuses on shows that previously streamed on the platform but not commissioned by Hotstar. I created it because I've checked the shows that related in the Disney+ Hotstar website and they're not in there.
Integrate "exclusive television distribution" into a new section named "Original programming"
[edit]I propose that the "exclusive television distribution" section will be integrated into a new section "Original programming" and rename that subsection into "exclusive international distribution" as some of the shows that initially released as Star Originals from Disney+/Star+ has come to Disney+ Hotstar as well and rebranded to Hotstar Originals.

Separate Disney Channel shows in SEA for a new section
[edit]I think it's convenient to separate Disney Channel shows in Hotstar Southeast Asia into a new section (not "Exclusive international distribution" section), since the main Disney Channels in Southeast Asia off air. Thanks. Ronniecoln Loudtiago Let's talk 06:03, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

List of Disney+ Hotstar original programming → List of JioHotstar original programming – The service was merged into JioHotstar recently as per reliable sources. Earthismyworld (talk) 05:54, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose for now Unless Southeast Asian section of the article is separated, because Indian version and Southeast Asian version are different versions and was not affected by JioHotstar rebrand for SEA (due to Disney having complete ownership of SEA version). 2404:8000:1037:4E4:50F:EAFA:8C27:F2E2 (talk) 10:26, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose: Based on the sources at the Disney+ Hotstar article, it appears the JioHotstar branding is primarily being used in India while "Hotstar" and "Disney+ Hotstar" are still being used internationally. We should wait to see if the Indian brand overtakes this one in the long term to become the common name, and any move would have to be taken up at Talk:Disney+ Hotstar first, as that is the parent article. - Oppose: Per above. Enperfectify World (talk) 14:39, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

Leave this page for Indian only after Disney+ Hotstar in SEA gonna be rebranded to Disney+
[edit]@Trailblazer101, Nisf, and VernardoLau: Well, on 9 October, Disney+ Hotstar in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand) gonna be rebranded to Disney+, is it fine to remove Southeast Asian related contents from the list and moving it to List of Disney+ original programming instead after that date? Thank you. Rochelle Kiana Rodriguez (talk) 07:08, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Since most of the titles were under Hotstar Originals, they should've moved to List of Star (Disney+) original programming instead. VernardoLau (talk) 07:16, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- These were released under Disney+ Hotstar in SE Asia, so don't remove the series from this page – leave the series as an archive and any ongoing series mark as "Ended" with a note that they have been moved to Star (Disney+). See List of Star+ original programming for a similar example in Latin America with Star+ moving to Disney+. Any SE Asia originals or exclusives that premiere after 9 October should be added to List of Star (Disney+) original programming (though at this point it looks like they've stopped making SE Asian programming anyways). – Nisf (talk) 11:49, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Well, looks like the rebrands started a day early. Rochelle Kiana Rodriguez (talk) 00:39, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

Response to revert: Platform history sections are required per WP:NOTLIST
[edit]Thanks for reviewing my edit. I understand your concern, but I'd like to explain why I think those sections actually belong here. First, WP:NOTLIST says stand-alone lists need context sections to help readers understand what they're looking at. That's exactly what the Platform history, Awards, and Technology sections do - they explain how the platform evolved and why the content exists in the first place. Second, Wikipedia itself suggested this article needed expansion through the Growth team's "Make articles longer" task. I was literally following that suggestion. Third, the main Disney+ Hotstar article doesn't cover these topics in depth. It mentions the merger briefly, but doesn't explain the 2015-2025 evolution, the ownership split (63.16% Reliance / 36.84% Disney), the awards, or the technical infrastructure. Different articles serve different purposes. Fourth, everything I added is sourced to reliable publications - Variety, TechCrunch, Business Standard, The Hindu, Reuters. No original research, just documented facts. Finally, the October 2025 discussion on this Talk page specifically mentioned needing historical context to explain the India vs Southeast Asia split. That's what my additions address. If you look at similar articles like List of Star+ original programming or List of Netflix original programming, they all have these context sections. It's pretty standard for this type of article. I'm definitely open to discussing this further or making adjustments if you have specific concerns. What would you suggest?
@Sid95Q: I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on this when you have a chance. Thanks for your time. Nejati.Farzad (talk) 22:19, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

- Comment - @Nejati.Farzad:, there is WP:NODEADLINE on Wikipedia and your initial questions was only posted a few hours ago. Have patience. You also filed the 3O request wrong as it should be no more than a couple sentences as opposed to a long paragraph. I would deny the request if it was done properly. I would suggest pinging the editor who removed the information and start a discussion. --CNMall41 (talk) 22:08, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- @CNMall41: Thank you for the guidance. You're absolutely right - I was too hasty and didn't follow the proper 3O format. I appreciate you taking the time to explain WP:NODEADLINE and the correct process. I've already pinged Sid95Q directly above and will wait patiently for their response before taking any further steps. Thanks again for your help. Nejati.Farzad (talk) 22:22, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- For what its worth, the content you added is not suitable for a list page. I do not see you getting a favorable 3O or having luck with an RfC but feel free to proceed how you deem fit. --CNMall41 (talk) 22:29, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- @CNMall41: Thanks for the honest feedback. If you don't mind, could you briefly explain what makes this content unsuitable for a list page? I want to understand for future edits. I noticed similar articles like List of Netflix original programming have platform history sections - is there a key difference I'm missing? Nejati.Farzad (talk) 23:18, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- What makes it unsuitable is that it is AI, which is prohibited here. Gnomingstuff (talk) 16:58, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
