Purported Historic Variants of the Lambing Flat Riot Flag/Banner

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Citations are needed for purported additional Historic Versions of the Lambing Flat Banner. I can't find any reference in any Non-Fictional Source to any other purported Historic Versions of the Lambing Flat Riot Flag/Banner on the Web so far—but perhaps there may still be mention of these purported Historic Variants somewhere in Non-Fictional Offline Media, or even somewhere that I've missed on the Web, for all I know thus far. If anyone has any Information corroborating the existence of supposed other Versions of the Lambing Flat Riot Banner/Flag then it would be much appreciated if it were to be provided please. I note that the version with no Mullet on the Fess Point appears on https://www.ironbarkresources.com/pdfs/LambingFlatRebellion.pdf but this is a Fictional Publication. Apparently it was automatically archived. If you replace these links with copyrighted images, they will be automatically deleted within a few hours, and restoring the links can be a cumbersome process, especially if several edits have been made since the deletion. Norfolk Island is under occupation

The Norfolk Island flag should not appear here as an Australian flag until the people agree to become part of Australia. The people of Norfolk Island want to be independent and were invaded by Australia. 2A0B:E45:1:0:0:0:0:142 (talk) 10:35, 22 August 2025 (UTC)

  • The flag of Norfolk Island is correctly included as a territorial flag of Australia.

Bot keeps deleting flags that are from Commons because of non-free file usage

A bot keeps deleting flag images that are in the public domain and are from Commons. It says it is because use of non free images is not allowed but these images are free. Can someone please help AuspolScribe (talk) 06:55, 14 September 2025 (UTC)

@AuspolScribe: The files the bot removed were uploaded locally to English Wikipedia as non-free content; they were not uploaded to Commons: Commons policy actually doesn't allow the hosting of such content per c:COM:FAIR. English Wikipedia does all certain types of non-free content, but it must be used in accordance with Wikipedia's non-free content policy, which is quite restrictive by design. One of these restrictions is that non-free content can't, in principle, be used to illustrate individual entries of list articles, used in image galleries or used in tables per WP:NFLISTS and WP:NFTABLES. That's what is meant by the "Use of Non-free Images in this article" WP:Editnotice at the top of the editing window of this article and also by the hidden notes added for entries where non-free images repeatedly needed to be removed in the past. If you didn't know any of this, then that's OK. If you'd like some more clarification on this, you can ask at either WT:NFCC or WP:MCQ. Please also understand that adding a non-free use rationale for a particular use doesn't make said use policy compliant as explained in WP:JUSTONE. Adding a rationale does address the WP:NFC#Implementation reason why the bot removed the file, but the use still fails several other of the non-free content use criteria. Is the Centenary Flag still official?

I am trying to figure out if the Centenary Flag is still official as the warrant for its use is not on legislation.gov.au. The original warrant is still available on Trove. Is it possible the warrant was automatically repealed like the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags were? Safes007 (talk) 07:19, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

It's still listed on the PMC website "The Centenary Flag was proclaimed a flag of Australia under section 6 of the Flags Act 1953 on 20 September 2001." suggests to me a similar promlomaction might/would be needed to make it no longer offical? I'm not sure, I've never even seen a good enough quality image of it. The blurb (linked) suggests it's still used today, though I doubt it's the flag flown above Parliment House. Also, I think the PMC's website may be incorrect as the proclamation is a warrant authorising the use of a particular flag (the defaced Australian National Flag donated by the ANFA) under section 6, not the proclamation of a "flag of Australia" under section 5. Some flags are just links to files, or blank (plus 1 addition might be needed)

so several of the flags including, but aren't limited to, Cocos Keeling islands flag, the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara flag, and the present Toowoomba flag don't display and only show a link to file, meanwhile the previous Toowoomba flag and Wagga Wagga flag boxes are completely empty.

Additionally it might be best to show both Upper Murray River Flags, this only shows one of them, but there are two, the wikipedia article that you get sent to for the Murray River Flag even shows this other variant. ~2026-5425 (talk) 07:16, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

The simple links are very intentional. I believe that the copyright situation with some of these non-official flags means that wikipedia policy is to not use the images themselves in lists like this one. Including them just gets reverted instantly by bots. Flag of the Governor-General

The Tudor crown used in the supposedly current flag is not the 2022 design found on the governor-general official website. An easy way to tell is that there should be a rhombus (diamond shape) in the center, not the rectangular jewel.
