As Romulus Augustus is the last now and currently, and will continue to be the last even if the next comes (were said "next" the final or not, and if not the last remains until the next last and et cetra; there's no terminal finality in 'last', the word is not lasting or should I say enduring. 67.171.248.22 (talk) 07:49, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Interesting objection, however I guess it really depends on where on the time-scale you view this. In discussions of the "End of Times", it would almost certainly be implied that the last and the final Roman Emperor is one and the same. So, while I do agree that the phrase "Last Roman Emperor" is ambiguous taken on its own, it's not really incorrect as long as one keeps in mind the specific context in which it's used. There are dozens of reliable sources about how evangelical Christians in the US believe Trump is the "Last World Emperor", and yet there’s not a single word about it in this article. Viriditas (talk) 23:14, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
