Larry David has had a photo from 2009 for a long time, a press or red-carpet professional photograph. Recently, the photo was changed to a screenshot of a video under CC that he did for YES network. It's a bit... odd because it's a screenshot of a video where he's constantly in motion. I understand the desire for a more recent photo, and that either are acceptable as an image for a BLP, but would it make sense to sort out consensus on which photo to use?
I think in this case, an older professional photo (from a time when his popularity was high, not like this is him from 50 years ago) would be preferrable to a screengrab from a new video. Happy to hear what others have to say! Yojo98 (talk) 14:16, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
IMO, when there's this many years between, the 2026 pic wins. Now-ish is one desirable aspect with living-people leadpics, and the 2026 one is quite decent for a screenshot. Both photos are OK. The older one has higher resolution and better lighting, but isn't a professional headshot either. On balance, since the previous photo is 17 years old, I'd lean towards the newer image. See e g. or for recent photos, which show that he indeed looks older than 17 years ago (surprise!), and our video still doesn't make him look older than he is. — Chrisahn (talk) 13:04, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'm not seeing the reason to use the 2026 screenshot, to the contrary, it is poor quality. The earlier photo is good, and it is not substantially misleading. I would not object to its caption saying its date though. Alanscottwalker (talk) 14:47, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Pro 2009 photo. I agree with your logic. The 2009 photo is a clearly recognizable higher quality photo showcasing David in the way his fame was most relevant in.
