Not Extinct

The Chiskiack tribal nation has present-day genealogical representation with living descendants in the Tidewater Virginia area and throughout the world. Some sources erroneously assume that the Chiskiack people were blended into other tribes without retaining tribal identity and therefore have become extinct as a people; however, direct descendants are alive today and hold regular gatherings, celebrate ancestors, and keep traditions alive.
