- First paragraph of "life" last sentence
Kim is a cousin
could be moved earlier; we put important family info earlier near birth circumstances generally.
Done - If you translate keywords to English should put orig Korean text next to the term. E.g.
Deputy Director of the Central Committee of the North Korean Democratic Youth Alliance
put Korean text in parentheses afterwards.
Partly done - "Kim Jong-il" -> "Kim Jong Il" per WP:KO-CONSISTENT.
Done - "Joseon" -> "Chosŏn" or "Choson". "Joseon" is RR, we use MR for NK.
Done - Awards and honors section a bit verbose repeating "awarded the"; maybe look at how other pages do it and copy their fmt
Done - References need general cleanup. Consistently use
trans-title,lang,access-date.

- I'm skeptical of the accuracy of the names of some of the organizations being reported by the Ministry of Unification source. E.g.
North–Latin American Friendship Association (북-라틴아메리카 친선협회)
North Korea rarely refers to itself in organization names like that using "North", it generally refers to itself as "Choson" (which is abbreviated as 조; "Cho"). Similarly, South Korea refers to itself as "Hanguk" (abbreviated 한; "Han"). In this source it refers to what I think is the same organization as "조선-라틴아메리카 및 카리브해 지역 친선협회". Can you figure out if this is the correct name? It seems more plausible to me. - Missing Korean text for some terms like "Paektu Mountain Great Figures Celebration"; several in that last paragraph.
- This article as a whole is really really WP:PROSELINE and WP:RESUME-like. It's not really an article so much as it is a collection of dates and appointments. But given that there's probably not much information about her otherwise idk... Maybe hard to avoid. Can you brainstorm some ways to deal with this anyway?
---
- References still need some work; missing publication names in several places. KCNA probably needs link. Funeral committee one missing publication name and date is wrong; retrieved field swapped with date of source. Make sure retrieval date consistently added to sources when possible/relevant.
---
Several major things:
- The book you cite as ref 2 I'm not sure how accurate it is; maybe it's indicating a different person? For starters, different birth date; in her Unification Ministry profile it says her birthday is January 1, 1931, not 1930. Also, it oddly says "男" next to the name, which means male. Maybe it's some OCR issue with the book? 정숙 is mostly a feminine name to my understanding.
- Secondly, that unification ministry profile doesn't contain Hanja for her, at least none that I can see. The Hanja given for her seems to correspond to Kim Il Sung's wife; possibly the two of them have the same Hanja but not clear to me. However, the book you provide does give that Hanja, but again unclear if same person. (
Done; found another source that gives her Hanja) - also you can use this URL for the unification ministry source; it links directly to the profile without needing search bar. Archive link doesn't correspond to this, so remember to remove. (
Done; updated archive link and actual link)
Criteria
[edit]- Well written
- I'm still eh about this page being like a resume, but with North Korea it's difficult to avoid.
- Verifiable
See below- I've also done a bunch of spot checks btw; have verified much of the article.
- No copyvios

- Broad

- Neutral

- Stable

- Illustrated
- I can't find any images with clear license for her. There's the image on her unification ministry page, but not clear copyright. So probably ok for now.

- @OpalYosutebitoSorry for delay, just added one more comment. I'm leaning close to passing the article after that comment is addressed. Also interesting, didn't know the thing about names in North Korea; 정숙 is a common name in South Korea. grapesurgeon (talk) 04:49, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

Another hook options to reach a wider audience would perhaps be: "...that due to being the cousin of the founder of North Korea, Kim Jong-suk is the only person in North Korea named Kim Jong-suk?" ABehjat (talk) 21:15, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
- I agree with ABehjat's suggestion; removes need to know who Kim Il Sung is. grapesurgeon (talk) 09:40, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
